Head down to Drummond Street on Saturday 29th July 2023 from 6pm – 11pm for an evening of culture, food and celebrations at their spectacular Summer Sundowner street festival.
The evening will start at 6pm, and guests will be invited to explore cuisines from across South Asia and beyond. Each of the 15 restaurants on Drummond Street will be serving up tasters of their signature specials for just £5. Try Aloo Chana Chat from Ravi Shankar, Garlic Chilli Chicken from Taste of India, or Flaming Loaded Fries from Fat Fellar, all to be enjoyed on the newly reinstalled Streatery furniture designed in partnership with architects, Jan Kattein.
As well as food and drink, stop off at one of the henna artists from the House of Henna collective who will be offering beautiful and unique body art and tattoos using natural henna and jagua ink, all for free! Get the creative juices flowing further and be inspired by Islamic and middle eastern art traditions as Nida will be running an Arabic Calligraphy workshop.
From 6.30pm, traditional Bollywood performances will ring out from celebrated dance troupe The Bollywood Co., who are committed to shining the spotlight on South Asian dance. Those who arrive later or are too busy enjoying some of the delicious dishes on offer can catch a second performance at 7.30pm followed by DJ sets blasting some old school Bollywood, Punjabi bangers, and Bengali new wave to continue the party vibes and good times until the sun goes down.
The Drummond Street Summer Sundowner is the first in a series of events, helping to reunite and celebrate this historic street in partnership with Euston Town BID-, Drummond Street traders, Jan Kattein Architects and Camden Council.
