Mexican flavours to burst onto Birmingham's New Street

Mexican restaurant brand, Boojum, is celebrating its arrival in Birmingham with a huge 300 burrito giveaway when the store opens its doors to the public on Thursday, 21st November.

The cult-favourite brand, known for its huge portions and bold flavours, will be bringing its legendary burritos to New Street from midday when the store will open its doors and the lucky first 300 people in the queue will receive a free main meal.

Boojum first hit the scene in Belfast in 2007, making serious waves in the Irish food game with its killer menu consisting of burritos, bowls, nachos, tacos, and freshly made chips and salsas. The brand now has 19 stores across Ireland and GB and has become the go-to for bold, flavourful Mexican eats that pack a punch. Birmingham is the brand's third GB site, after Leeds and Nottingham.

Boojum Head of Operations, Rob Powell, said: "Following our huge Leeds opening earlier this year, we're very excited to announce the launch date of our Birmingham restaurant. Our team has been working hard over the last few months to create our new space and we can’t wait to shake up the food scene in Brum and welcome everyone from Thursday 21st November.

"To celebrate we will be handing out free burritos to the first 300 diners through the doors from 12pm, so we’d advise customers to get there early to make sure you don’t miss out.”

Expect a striking and dynamic interior which showcases a rich palette of bold colours, lively decor and bespoke murals that reflects the vibrancy of the brand. Brightly coloured furnishings and a lively crew serving up their famous food with bags of passion and personality contribute to the fiesta-like atmosphere.

With a commitment to innovation, Boojum has revolutionised modern Mexican cuisine with its menu which is a bold departure from conventional practices. Boojum prides itself on the absence of microwaves and freezers in all its restaurants, ensuring that everything served is prepared fresh in store each day.

Offering a fully customisable menu, creating exceptional burritos involves five steps, starting with a large flour tortilla filled with your choice of rice, beans, and meat or vegetarian options like chicken, pork, beef, chorizo, chilli, sautéed vegetables, or vegan three-bean chilli.

Enhance your burrito with salsas like chipotle or pico de gallo for added flavour and balance it with creamy cheese and sour cream. Finally, top it off with guacamole, jalapeños, chorizo, or pickled onions for a more-ish experience.

In 2023, Boojum's Burrito Bowl achieved recognition as the sixth most trending dish worldwide on Deliveroo, underscoring the brand's global appeal.

The public are invited to see the new venue at 64 New Street, for the big unveil on Thursday 21st November when the first 300 people in line will receive a free meal.
