Review: Tavola, Leamington Spa

Nestled in the heart of Leamington Spa, Tavola is a culinary gem that has recently undergone a rebranding from its previous incarnation as 44 Café Bar and Bistro. From the same team as Windmill Hill Brewery, Tavola is a wonderful addition to Leamington.

Tavola has embraced a distinctly Italian theme, both in its décor and its menu. The restaurant's ambience draws inspiration from Italian surrealist paintings of the 1920s, creating an artistic and inviting atmosphere.

At the helm of Tavola's kitchen is Tuscan executive chef Martin Serafino, who brings a passion for authentic Italian cuisine. The menu is a love letter to Italy, featuring classic dishes with a contemporary twist. During our visit, we indulged in the restaurant's popular bottomless brunch, which offers a choice of pizza, pasta, or salad, accompanied by bottomless Prosecco, cocktails, or beer.

We opted to share two dishes: the Mortadella Pizza and the Rigatoni dua e Stracciatella, a fiery pasta dish. The mortadella pizza was exactly what you'd expect. Light base, good quality burrata and mortadella and a bunch of crushed pistachios.

The Rigatoni dua e Stracciatella was a personal highlight. Hearty, spicy, and creamy it was a standout of the menu. Plus, extra bonus given to the gorgeous bowl - I wish I could have taken one home!

Where this experience really came into its own were bottomless cocktails. Priced at £35 for two hours, this bottomless brunch offers exceptional value for money and is where most establishments choose to offer a low-quality prosecco (if you're lucky!) Tavola has opted for hand-crafted cocktails made to order.

I indulged in a variety of cocktails, including a Margarita, a decaf Espresso Martini, a Cosmopolitan, and a Limoncello Spritz. Each cocktail was expertly crafted and had the perfect balance of flavours. My partner, who was driving, tried the Hugo (a refreshing blend of elderflower liqueur, soda water, and mint) before switching to mocktails. He had the Crodino Spritz (an alcohol-free take on the classic Aperol Spritz) and an alcohol-free Cosmopolitan, which tasted remarkably close to the real thing. It felt like the team at Tavola really went above and beyond!

Tavola’s bottomless brunch is available every day from 11 AM to 4 PM, making it a versatile option whether you're looking for a weekend treat or a midweek pick-me-up. The combination of high-quality food, expertly crafted cocktails, and the charming Italian-inspired setting makes Tavola a must-visit destination in Leamington Spa.

At £35 for two hours of bottomless drinks and a delicious main meal, Tavola offers a dining experience that's at a really accessible price point. Whether you're a fan of Italian cuisine or just looking for a great place to enjoy a leisurely brunch, Tavola is sure to impress - I'd particularly recommend this for birthday parties, hen dos, or group celebrations.
