Wildflowers
Photo: Cuttlefish fideua, grilled prawns & saffron aioli
Belgravia will get a bucolically named neighbourhood restaurant, wine bar, and deli this September. Wildflowers is the creation of chef Aaron Potter whose most notable kitchen roles prior have been overseeing the kitchen at Trinity in Clapham, under Adam Byatt and Elystan Street in Chelsea, under Phil Howard. This is his first solo venture and he’s teamed up with interior stylist Laura Hart on the project. Diners can expect simple seasonal Mediterranean cooking from trusted local suppliers, such as this Cuttlefish fideua, grilled prawns & saffron aioli pictured. Italian olive oils, focaccia and charcuterie are all available to take away at the deli. JA.

Sael
Chef Jason Atherton and his wife Irha Atherton prove you can mix business with pleasure, unveiling the new British restaurant Sael in St James’s Market this September. The 85-cover brasserie is "Atherton’s homage to the diverse heritage of the British Isles, blending traditional flavours with global influence". Sael will only feature ingredients sourced from the British Isles, showcasing "a menu that is accessible and hyper-seasonal with interiors that 'exude the energy and swagger of the Cool Britannia!". Might we see Oasis at the launch? Atherton has assembled the entire team from his (now closed) Pollen Street Social restaurant. Dinner will be £85 per head, a set lunch menu for £35, and a pre-theatre option at £35 for three courses and two courses for £30. JA.

The Punchbowl
Guy Ritchie and Madonna's pub, The Punchbowl, in Mayfair has just re-opened, following a massive refurbishment. It's only fair to set the story straight, Guy sold it more than a decade ago but the association remains. The then couple's purchase of the pub in 2008 caused high excitement. No doubt, the unravelling of their marriage and subsequent divorce added to the mystery. The refurb has kept the style of the place - posh city pub with some country flair thrown in for good measure. But what's on the menu? High-end pub grub, of course. Fish & Chips, battered using Butcombe Brewery Beer (owner of the pub), prawn & crab cocktail, and great cuts of steak. Given the Mayfair location, little surprise starters will set you back around £15. Main courses cost 20-odd quid. PL.
